For nature lovers, the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve offers dramatic quartzite ridges, wild moorland and far-reaching views—perfect for walking, wildlife spotting and soaking up the peace of rural England.
History enthusiasts will enjoy Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms—one of the finest and best-preserved fortified medieval manor houses in the country. Built in the 13th century, it is remarkable for its domestic character despite its castle-like appearance.
You can also wander through the charming market town of Ludlow, renowned for its medieval architecture and vibrant food scene. A visit to the Ludlow Farm Shop makes an excellent stop along the way.
Further afield, Shrewsbury, the historic county town of Shropshire, offers a wonderfully preserved medieval street plan, striking Tudor and Georgian buildings, and a wealth of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Its award-winning Market Hall—considered the best in the UK—is renowned for its eclectic mix of street-food vendors, artisan producers, vintage traders and craftspeople.
